This year the COSMOS Advisory Board held their summer meeting at UCSD. The summer meeting rotates to the different COSMOS campuses. On Thursday, they came by to visit our cluster. We had the chance to talk to the board members and share our work. They were very impressed with us and the image processing projects we showcased. Below are some pictures from the visit. Sharing our work with former first lady of California, Gayle Wilson, who founded COSMOS.
On Monday, we learned about number systems such as binary and hexadecimal. We applied the algorithms that we were taught in elementary school in the decimal system to binary (base 2) and hexadecimal (base 16). After we learned about converting between number bases, we played a game called "Around the World". We had to convert a binary number into hexadecimal and had a one-on-one challenge with each other The person who made it back to their seat was the champion of the challenge. Congratulations to Annie to won "Around the World"! Annie (standing) in one of her final matches. Playing "Around the World". Having a good time watching the game around them. Curt holds up a card to the pair in the challenge. The first one who answers correctly moves on. To view more photos, view our photo albums in Shutterfly .
